Lockwood 8653 Sliding Security Screen Door Lock

Lockwood 8653 sliding security screen door lock with DualSelect two-stage locking, LockAlert status indication and optional three-point locking for suitable residential sliding screen doors.

Lockwood 8653 sliding security screen door lock in black

The Lockwood 8653 is a mortice sliding security screen door lock designed for residential applications. It combines self-latching operation with Lockwood DualSelect® two-stage key locking and LockAlert® status indication, with single-point and optional three-point configurations available.

Why choose the Lockwood 8653?

DualSelect® locking modes

The 8653 provides two stages of key locking. The first stage selects a safety or privacy mode, securing the door from outside while still allowing occupants to exit from inside using the internal lever. Turning the key further selects secure mode, locking the door from both inside and outside so a key is required to unlock it.

For day-to-day use, the inside snib can also operate the lock. When the optional three-point kit is fitted, the snib operates all three locking points.

LockAlert® status indication

LockAlert® gives a visual indication of the lock condition so the user can quickly identify whether the door is in passage, safety or secure mode.

Single-point and three-point options

The Lockwood 8653 is available as a standard single-point mortice sliding security door lock, with an optional three-point kit available where additional locking points are required. A snib-only version is also available for suitable applications.

Standards and testing

According to Lockwood, the 8653 meets or exceeds the requirements of AS 4145.2-2008 to security level S7 and durability level D8. The range has also been successfully tested on security screen doors in accordance with AS 5039-2008 and AS 5041-2003.

Finishes and keying

Standard polyester powdercoat finishes include black, primrose and white. Cylinder and keying options depend on the exact lock configuration. Compatible versions use Lockwood Euro-profile lazy-cam cylinders and can be considered for keying alike with suitable Lockwood door and window products.

Replacement and retrofit applications

The 8653 is particularly useful when replacing compatible sliding security screen door hardware because it suits common industry cut-outs and can retrofit the previous Whitco Leichhardt lock. Door preparation, stile dimensions, strike position and existing three-point hardware should still be checked before ordering.
