CARBINE · NIGHT HAWK SECURE
Manual rim deadbolt rather than a self-latching night latch
Carbine Night Hawk Secure is the deadbolt member of the Night Hawk family. It uses a solid brass bolt, concealed fixing and a strengthened strike arrangement for compatible doors where deliberate locking is wanted without automatic spring latching.

Where it is used and how it works
The lock footprint is designed to facilitate replacement of many older night latches, but changing from latching to a deadbolt can materially change how an entry is secured and used. Ensure there is an appropriate independent latch if the door requires one.
A deadbolt, not an automatic latch
Secure requires deliberate deadbolt operation. It should not be chosen where the door needs to latch itself when pushed shut. Pro and Advance are the self-latching Night Hawk options.
Strengthened fixing and strike arrangement
Carbine describes additional mounting holes and a reinforced timber strike with extra-long screws. A compatible matching metal-frame strike is an option for suitable frame construction.

Replacement and installation checks
Night Hawk models use a nominal 60 mm backset and CRC 201-type rim cylinder interface where specified. Carbine’s installation instructions describe a 32 mm through-hole for a new rim-cylinder installation and require the gap between the lock and strike to be minimised and not exceed 5 mm. Exact markings and drilling must follow the original manufacturer template.
- Check door material, thickness, hinged opening direction and exact position of the existing lock.
- Take photos of the external rim cylinder, internal lock case, mounting area and frame strike, with a ruler where possible.
- Measure the original backset, cylinder centre, screw positions, strike clearance and damaged areas of the frame.
- Confirm if the customer expects self-latching, holdback, privacy or deliberate deadbolt locking.
- Check cylinder profile and matching restricted or master key system before quoting keyed-alike operation.
- Assess any fire door, emergency exit, accessibility or shared access requirements before changing lock function.

Frequently asked questions
Does Secure latch automatically?
No. The Secure is a deadbolt rather than a spring night latch.
Is it the same footprint as Pro and Advance?
Carbine says the three models share the same footprint, but the existing installation must still be checked.
Can it be fitted to an exit door?
Only if the specific door assembly and escape requirements allow the selected locking configuration. Never assume a generic deadbolt meets egress requirements.
Can ABETTA rekey this lock?
Many suitable Carbine CRC rim cylinders can be rekeyed or selected for compatible keyed-alike and master-key applications. That depends on the actual cylinder, key profile and any restricted system controls. Send a picture of the existing cylinder and key rather than assuming compatibility.

Need Carbine Night Hawk Secure on the Sunshine Coast?
Send photographs of the lock, door edge, strike and whole door, along with your suburb and the operation you need. ABETTA can check the likely fit and quote compatible supply and installation.
