Why the interchangeable mounting system matters
LEG-TON was launched in March 2026 to make changing or standardising furniture easier across suitable LOCKTON, Lockwood, dormakaba and Legge mortice locks. The larger plate is intended to cover paint outlines and earlier mounting marks, while the multi-position fixings accommodate common legacy furniture locations.

LEG-TON external and internal part numbers
This is not one universal lockset containing every component. External and internal furniture must be selected as compatible pairs for the mortice lock and required operation. The following are the ten configurations illustrated in the supplier’s June 2026 brochure.

Understanding the rotatable screw-position insert
The distinguishing feature is a small internal mounting insert that changes where the through-fixing screw meets the furniture. The supplier instructs installers to select the top hole for LEGGE furniture or the bottom hole for Lockwood, dormakaba and LOCKTON applications. That is a starting point, not a guarantee that every legacy body or drilling pattern matches.

The manufacturer brochure includes photographs, dimensioned plate references and all ten LEG-TON configurations. The internal plate uses the illustrated rotatable fixing insert. Match the spindle, cylinder aperture and fixing pattern before installation.
Matching LEG-TON to the actual door
- Identify whether existing furniture is Lockwood, Legge, dormakaba, LOCKTON or another brand. Photograph both faces and any product markings.
- Measure original plate size, screw centres and height/position of the lever and cylinder or snib.
- Confirm spindle diameter and how the mortice latch and lock operate; furniture is not itself a lock body.
- Check that the larger 175 × 48 mm plate covers earlier screw holes and paint outlines without interfering with the edge of the door or frame.
- Verify internal insert orientation, through-fixing screw length, door thickness and physical clearance from the mortice lock case.
- Where an indicator or accessible turn is needed, select the appropriate external/internal pair and check the required emergency release arrangement.
- For fire and escape doors, require confirmation of the appropriate approved hardware combination and installed door compliance.

Common LEG-TON questions
Can LEG-TON replace Lockwood, Legge or dormakaba furniture without new holes?
It is designed for many of these legacy fixing patterns using its alternative hole positions. However, plate coverage, centre distances, spindle position, lock case and door condition must still be checked. It is not a promise of universal interchangeability.
What is included with an internal LEG-TON plate?
For the listed models, the supplier describes two M4 fixing screws and a screw-position insert, along with the selected furniture. The mortice lock and oval cylinder are separate unless a specified kit includes them.
Does it suit a mortice lock in a fire-rated door?
Supplier material cites fire testing for certain configurations, but the installer must verify the specific certificate and approved door assembly. A fire-tested component does not automatically make a modified door compliant.
Does LEG-TON come in matte black?
The reviewed launch documentation lists satin chrome. We would confirm any additional current LEG-TON finishes with the distributor rather than assuming the black ART-SQ options carry across.
Can one side of the existing furniture be replaced?
Yes, that is one of the manufacturer-described goals of the range, where the existing mortice lock and remaining furniture side are mechanically compatible.
Is LEG-TON supplied with the ML60-KIT2 entrance kit?
No. The standard LOCKTON ML60-KIT2 entrance mortice kit is supplied with ART-SQ 165 × 46 mm furniture. LEG-TON’s 175 × 48 mm interchangeable plates and 148/158 mm centres are a separate option for suitable existing door preparation. Check compatibility before considering a substitution.
