AML digital access

AML-A5 Digital Deadbolt

The AML-A5 provides five access methods in a digital deadbolt format for suitable residential doors: TTLock app, PIN code, RFID credential, fingerprint and manual key.

Digital access in a deadbolt format

Unlike the AML-01 and AML-05 lever models, the AML-A5 is a deadbolt. That can make it appropriate for selected doors where a dedicated deadbolt function is preferred and the door preparation is suitable.

The best choice depends on the complete door, not just the electronic features. Abetta checks backset, door thickness, existing holes, frame alignment, weather exposure and the locking arrangement before recommending a retrofit.

Deadbolt or digital lever lock?

A deadbolt and a lever lock perform different jobs. The AML-A5 is worth considering where a deadbolt-style locking arrangement suits the door. If the door needs everyday latch-and-lever operation, one of the AML lever models or another lock may be more appropriate.

For general selection advice, see Digital & Smart Locks or compare the AML-01 and AML-05.

TTLock mobile application

TTLock application

The TTLock application can administer supported features. Exact functions depend on the lock, gateway and configuration. A compatible Wi-Fi gateway can provide supported remote functionality where required.

Flat batteries and mechanical backup

The lock uses four AA alkaline batteries. Battery life varies with frequency of use, environment and configuration. An emergency USB connection can provide temporary power in a flat-battery situation, and the manual key provides a separate mechanical access option.

Installation matters

A digital deadbolt needs the bolt to move freely into the strike. If the door has dropped, warped or is being held out of alignment by seals, forcing the motor to overcome that resistance can create poor operation. Door and frame condition should therefore be corrected as part of the installation where necessary.

Existing deadbolt holes may or may not suit the AML-A5. Photographs and basic measurements help determine whether the current preparation can be reused.

AML-A5 FAQs

Does the AML-A5 have a lever handle?

No. It is a digital deadbolt format rather than a digital lever lock.

Can I use it without the TTLock app?

Yes. The lock also provides PIN, RFID, fingerprint and manual key access.

Does it require a Wi-Fi gateway?

Not for normal local access. A suitable gateway is used when supported remote TTLock functions are required.

Can it replace my existing deadbolt?

Possibly, but the backset, existing preparation, door thickness, alignment and exposure need to be checked first.

Important: Digital locks are not suitable for every door. Door construction, existing holes, weather exposure, fire and egress requirements, handing and user needs must be checked before installation.

Is a digital deadbolt the right solution?

Send photographs of both sides and the edge of your door, along with details of the existing lock. Abetta can assess whether the AML-A5 suits the opening or recommend another option.
